LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
NAME
The name of this award shall be the Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club Lifetime Achievement Award (the Lifetime Achievement Award).

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club Lifetime Achievement Award is to recognise and honour individuals for their extensive and influential careers during which they have made contributions of unparalleled significance and long-lasting positive impact to the Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club and the sport of baseball. The Award celebrates recipients who embody the Club’s values of integrity, fairness and excellence.

SCOPE
The Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club Lifetime Achievement Award is designed to run in parallel with the VPBBC Life Membership and the VPBBC Hall of Fame and represents esteemed recognition of an individual’s outstanding, sustained and transformative contributions to the Club throughout a lifetime. It acknowledges and commemorates a lifetime of dedication, perseverance and positive influence, creating a legacy that defines the Club and inspires future generations.

GOVERNANCE
The VPBBC Heritage Committee is responsible for managing all aspects of the Lifetime Achievement Award under the authority and approval of the VPBBC Management Committee. This includes the development and maintenance of guidelines and procedures, the vetting, validation, voting and induction processes and the maintenance and updating of all related records.

The VPBBC Heritage Committee is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Lifetime Achievement Award guidelines and supporting procedural documentation and their implementation, the vetting, validation, voting and induction processes as well as maintaining and updating all records.
​
The VPBBC Management Committee will be responsible for ratifying all decisions made by the Heritage Committee, and the Secretary will be responsible for implementing all agreed actions by the Management Committee such as the distribution of information to members, inductees and website personnel.
​
These guidelines, policies and procedures will be reviewed annually, and any recommended updates or amendments will be provided to the Management Committee for endorsement.

NOMINATION CRITERIA
All nominated candidates must meet the following criteria:

An individual must have made outstanding and unparalleled contributions to the VPBBC and the sport of baseball over a period of not less than 25 years.

The individual’s contributions must be significant, influential and have long lasting impact and influence on the VPBBC and the sport of baseball, going above and beyond that of regular responsibilities.

Excellence for such a prolonged period of time may (and usually will) involve contributions and leadership across multiple roles including, but not limited to;

Administration & Management
-
Playing, Coaching & Development
-
Preservation and Promotion of Club History
-
Volunteering & Officiating
-
Umpiring & Scoring
-
The individual must be of good character - displaying good conduct, sportsmanship, integrity, dignity and an unwavering dedication to the Club and the sport.

An individual may only receive the award once.

The award is designed to commemorate a lifetime of perseverance, excellence and commitment to the Club and the sport and as such acknowledges a lasting and inspiring legacy. Therefore, the Lifetime Achievement Award will only be presented when there is a deserving individual nominated and there should be no expectation this will be anything other than a very rare presentation.

NOMINATION RULES & PROCEDURES
Nomination of an individual for the Lifetime Achievement Award can be by any member of the Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club, or by any member of the Western Australian baseball fraternity but cannot be by the individual being nominated.
​
Nomination forms are available on the Club website and may also be requested in hard copy format from the Management Committee but all nominations must include a completed nomination form, supporting documentation and evidence (including, but not limited to: biographies, statistics, newspaper articles, certificates, awards and commendations, photographs, video footage and testimonials) and be submitted to the Club Secretary.

Nominations will typically open on October 1st and close on December 31st each year, unless otherwise determined by the Heritage Committee. Timelines for submission of nominations will be posted on the Club website.

Following receipt of nominations, the Secretary will forward all information electronically (or by post or by hand as needed) to the Heritage Committee for vetting and validation.
​
In the event of a nominee serving on either the Heritage Committee or the Management Committee at the time of their nomination, they shall be ineligible to participate in the deliberation process relating to their nomination. All declarations will be recorded by the Club Secretary.
​
All nominations are to be treated with the strictest of confidence until such time as having been ratified by the Management Committee and publicised on the Club website.
​
Any Heritage Committee or Management Committee member who has a direct or perceived conflict of interest in relation to a nomination must declare that interest and remove themselves from all deliberations and voting relating to that nomination.
​
Unsuccessful nominations may be resubmitted in subsequent years subject to the submission of updated or additional supporting information.
VETTING & VOTING PROCEDURES
After all nominee submissions have been received from the Secretary, the Heritage Committee will endeavour to ensure submissions accurately detail all required aspects of nomination and validate supporting evidence.

Upon receipt of all nominations, the Heritage Committee will review the submissions, assessing the following:

The nominations have been submitted on the VPBBC Lifetime Achievement Award nomination form (available on the Club website) and all nomination criteria have been suitably addressed.

Assess the accuracy of supporting documentation and that they suitably support a candidate’s eligibility for VPBBC Lifetime Achievement.

​If the VPBBC Heritage Committee determines that more information is required before a decision on a nominated candidate’s eligibility can be made, the Heritage Committee will request the Secretary contact the nominating entity and
-
advise them that a revised submission, addressing any omissions or shortcomings, must be submitted within a limited allocated timeframe.

If necessary, the Heritage Committee will seek assistance from current and past members for input as to the merits of the nomination and the accuracy of any supporting information.

All nominees successfully passing the vetting process will be subject to an official voting process by the Heritage Committee.

For a ballot to be considered valid at least 80% of the Heritage Committee must cast a vote and a candidate must subsequently receive an affirmative vote from a minimum of 75% of the Committee.

Voting shall be conducted by secret ballot with abstentions counting toward the quorum but do not count as affirmative votes.

The Heritage Committee will notify the Management Committee of any successful candidates for ratification at the Management Committee meeting.

INDUCTION & NOTIFICATION PROCESSES
In the event that a candidate’s submission is unsuccessful the Heritage Committee will request that the Secretary contact the nominating entity to advise them of the Committee’s decision and the reasons for it.

Successful inductees and their nominating entities will be notified by the Secretary and extended an invitation to attend the Club’s Annual Awards Presentation, where the presentation of the VPBBC Lifetime Achievement Award will be made.
​
Notification of a members presentation with the VPBBC Lifetime Achievement Award shall be publicised on the Club website, social media platforms and any other platforms deemed appropriate as well as permanently recorded in the Clubs history books and the Annual Report.
