Senior League Baseball
ABOUT
Senior League Baseball is for players who are aged between 13 - 16 by the 31st August each year. There are both similarities and differences between Junior League and Senior League baseball. Whilst still maintaining a focus on fun, player development, equal participation and sportsmanship, this division uses standard baseball field dimensions and can therefor be more challenging for younger players. Second year Junior League players can apply to play up inSenior League as well as playing Junior League.
The following field dimensions and rule adaptations apply:
-
The game is played on a full sized 90ft diamond, just like seniors.
-
The pitching distance is 60ft 6'' just the same as seniors.
-
There are still age dependent restrictions on the number of pitches that can be thrown by any player and mandatory days of rest are required after certain thresholds have been reached
-
Base runners are permitted to lead off bases and may attempt to steal at any time.
-
Non-wood bats must be BBCOR certified and labeled with the BBCOR 0.50 mark and any wooden bats must meet the specific diameter and length requirements.
-
There are no catching restrictions.
-
Every player listed on the team roster shall be included in the batting line-up for the full duration of the game.
-
An on-deck batter is permitted.
-
Regulation games are typically 7 innings.
-
There still exists minimum participation requirements for all players.
