Australian U/18 Team - Riley Marsh

Congratulations VPBBC's own Riley Marsh

Congratulations to Riley Marsh for his selection in the Australian U/18 team currently competing in the WBSC.

Riley was one of 5 Western Australian players selected in the Australian team that is currently playing in Sarasota, Florida against teams from around the World in the World Baseball Softball Confederation.

The Aussie team hasn't started so well with losses to Mexico, Chinese Taipei and Japan but Riley has thrown well in his appearances on the hill and is doing himself, his parents and club proud. Keep it up Riley!

The Park Mourns
the loss of a beloved family member

The Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club is deeply saddened by the passing of a much loved family member, Wendy Jackson.

22.02.1944 - 07.08.2022

Wendy commenced her time with the Victoria Park Baseball Club in 1974 when the club was playing at Selby Park in Redcliffe. She scored juniors for 10 years. During that time she was a founding member of the Victoria Park Junior Baseball Club and was eventually awarded Life Membership.

She continued to assist at the club in various roles through the years, eventually returning to scoring in the late 2000's.

A wonderful soul, always smiling, Wendy had the great joy of watching her son Bradley and then grandson Jakob play at the club, bringing her so many wonderful memories.

The Club would like to pass on its deepest condolences and sympathies to Brad, Kelli and their families. Wendy was a truly lovely lady that will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral Service

The funeral service for Wendy will be held at Bowra and O'dea, Midland, Thursday 25 August.

New club coach

The Victoria Park Belmont Baseball Club is pleased to announce the appointment of the new club coach for the 2020/21 season

Welcome to 'The Park' Rod Drew

Rod comes to The Park with an impressive résumé, including 30 years involved at the top levels of baseball within the state. He has been involved in numerous finals campaigns with State League and AAA teams, being the State League coach at Morley for two years and at South Perth for three.

He has commanded Baseball WA State and High Performance coaching roles since 2000, taking various age groups (Under 14's through to Under 23's) to 15 National tournaments, and impressively, only once not finishing in the top 4.

Rod has travelled to the States 7 times as one of the team coaches for the World Baseball Showcase Colts teams run by Steve Fish, being involved with many high school and college games. He has also assisted at many Perth Heat and Western Heelers training sessions since 2000.

He has an amazing work ethic, strong commitment to junior development and brings with him a winning culture.

On top of this he has been the Facility Manager at Baseball Park since July 2007 and has an unmatched love of the game.

Go REDS!
